This tool gives you a directional estimate based on LinkedIn's published user data and known distribution patterns across job functions, seniority levels and industries. The actual number LinkedIn Campaign Manager shows will differ because it uses real-time data from its member database. Use this tool to check whether your targeting combination is in the right ballpark — Narrow, Ideal or Broad — before opening Campaign Manager.
For most campaign types, an audience between 300,000 and 2,000,000 is where LinkedIn ads perform best. Below 50,000, you risk ad fatigue and budget under-delivery. Above 10 million, your targeting is too broad and cost per lead goes up because you are reaching too many people who are not your buyer. For account-based marketing (ABM), audiences of 50,000 to 300,000 can still work well.
LinkedIn requires a minimum audience of 300 members to run a campaign. However, in practice, audiences below 10,000 will struggle to spend your daily budget and users will see your ads far too often. For campaigns to function effectively, aim for at least 50,000 members, and ideally more than 100,000.
LinkedIn uses AND logic between different filter categories and OR logic within the same category. So if you select Marketing and Sales under job function, LinkedIn shows your ads to people in either function (OR within job function). But if you also select Manager seniority, LinkedIn narrows further to people who are in Marketing or Sales AND who hold Manager-level roles (AND between categories). This is why adding more categories makes the audience smaller.
For most B2B campaigns, selecting two or three closely related job functions gives the best balance of precision and reach. For example, targeting Marketing, Business Development and Sales together is sensible if you are selling a CRM. Targeting ten job functions at once usually means your audience is either too broad or not really related to your offer.
For B2B software and services in India, Director, VP and C-Level together give you the economic buyers who approve budgets. If your product also needs a product champion (someone who will use it daily), add Manager to the mix. For recruitment campaigns, Senior and Entry Level tend to give better results. Avoid targeting Entry Level alone if you are selling expensive software, as those members usually do not hold purchasing authority.
A too-narrow audience usually happens because you have applied too many filter categories at once. Each additional category shrinks the audience with AND logic. Try removing one category at a time — often removing the company size filter opens the audience up significantly. You can also broaden your seniority selection or add one or two adjacent job functions.
Yes. LinkedIn Campaign Manager lets you target by member skills — the skills people list on their profile. Skills targeting is useful when job title or function alone is too broad. For example, targeting people with Python or Salesforce listed as a skill. Skills targeting typically narrows an audience by 30 to 50 percent. This estimator focuses on the four primary filters that have the biggest impact on audience size.
LinkedIn Matched Audiences lets you upload a list of company names, email addresses or website visitor data and target those specific people. This tool estimates audiences built using LinkedIn's standard profile-based targeting only. Matched Audiences sizes depend entirely on your own data and how well it matches LinkedIn's database, so they cannot be estimated generically.
LinkedIn CPMs in India typically range from Rs 300 to Rs 700 per thousand impressions for Sponsored Content, depending on the audience quality and competition. Niche senior audiences (Director and above in technology or finance) can cost Rs 600 to Rs 1,000 or more. Broader awareness audiences can be as low as Rs 200 to Rs 350. These are estimates based on observed campaign data and will vary by industry, creative quality and bid strategy.
LinkedIn targeting is based on professional profile data that members fill in themselves — job title, company, industry, skills and seniority. This makes it highly accurate for B2B targeting. Google Ads targets based on search intent and browsing behaviour. Meta targets based on interests, demographics and behaviour signals. LinkedIn costs more per click because the professional context makes it more valuable for B2B lead generation, especially when targeting senior decision makers.
Technology and Software has the largest addressable audience on LinkedIn India, making up roughly 22 percent of the targetable base. Financial Services and Banking is second at around 11 percent. Education, Manufacturing and Professional Services each contribute around 8 to 10 percent. Healthcare and Pharma, Retail and Government together account for another 15 to 20 percent. These proportions shift as you layer on seniority and function filters.
